Polhem Infra completes acquisition of Telia Carrier

Polhem Infra has today completed the acquisition of Telia Carrier from Telia Company and thereby assumes full control of the company. Under Polhem Infra’s ownership, Telia Carrier will continue to further strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading network connectivity providers.

As a global provider of data traffic infrastructure, Telia Carrier plays a critical role in providing global Internet backbone capacity and the transition towards a digitized society. With its top-ranked IP network, the company offers a unique ecosystem of cloud and network solutions for transporting data and voice traffic on a global scale. Telia Carrier’s sustainable network connects more than 700 cloud, security, and content providers. The company has more than 2,300 customers in 125 countries.

“In Polhem Infra, Telia Carrier has a stable owner with a long-term approach and digital infrastructure at its core. This provides security for customers, employees and society as a whole,” says Mikael Lundin, CEO Polhem Infra.

As part of the agreement, Telia Carrier and Telia Company enter a strategic partnership to secure world-leading network solutions for Telia’s multinational customers.

“Digital communication is growing fast. The transition to 5G and the rise of IoT are fueling an explosion in data traffic and in the past year we have also seen a sharp increase in video traffic,” says Mikael Lundin.

A new brand and company name will be presented later.

With Polhem Infra taking over the ownership of Telia Carrier, a new board of directors has been appointed:

Eva Elmstedt, Chairman of the Board. Previous experience as EVP Global Services and member of the management team at Nokia Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks, as well as senior positions within Ericsson, 3, IBM and Semcon. Current board assignments: Chairman of the Board of Proact IT Group AB and Semcon AB, as well as board member of Addtech AB, Arjo AB and Elanders AB.

Stephanie Lynch-Habib. Over 25 years of experience in the global technology sector, and currently CMO at GSMA. Earlier roles include CMO at Colt Technology Services, VP Sales IoT EMEA at AT&T, and Sales VP Nordics & Benelux at AT&T.

Johnny Svedberg. More than 35 years of experience within telecom and IT globally, including 25 years in senior positions. Previous roles include COO at Indonesian telecom operator IndosatOoredoo, COO at Tele2, CEO of Teracom AB, and CEO of Infocare AS.

Mikael Lundin. CEO of Polhem Infra, representing the owner, with over 25 years of experience in leading positions within the energy and infrastructure sectors.
